With Blends you can automatically make line, triaxial and biaxial blends.

Line Blends

Example Silica Line Blend

Let’s create a line blend that shows the effect of adding silica to a glaze:

“Left”: No Silica”Right”: With Silica
40 Potash Feldspar40 Potash Feldspar
0 Silica40 Silica
20 Whiting20 Whiting
10 Kaolin10 Kaolin
  1. Select “Line” from the Blend dropdown.
  2. Select the number of columns you want in the blend. In this case, we will use 5 columns.
  3. Select the “Left” and “Right” recipes.

  1. Click the Blend button. Glazy will create the blend recipes named “A1”, “A2”, “A3”, “A4”, and “A5”. You can see the recipes represented in the Glazy Chart on the left. The blend recipes are not saved until you click the Save button.

Example Colorant Line Blend

Let’s create a line blend that shows the effect of adding cobalt to a glaze:

“Left”: No Cobalt”Right”: With Cobalt

10 Kaolin10 Kaolin

Starting a Colorant Line Blend

  1. Select “Line” from the Blend dropdown.
  2. Select the number of columns you want in the blend. In this case, we will use 5 columns.
  3. Select the “Left” and “Right” recipes.
  4. Click the Preserve Additional checkbox to ensure the blends preserve cobalt as an additive.

Triaxial Blends

Let’s create a triaxial blend that shows the effect of adding red iron oxide and rutile to a glaze:

  1. Select “Triaxial” from the Blend dropdown.
  2. Select the number of rows you want in the blend. In this case, we will use 6 rows.
  3. Select the “Top”, “Left” and “Right” recipes.
  4. Click the Preserve Additional checkbox to ensure the blends preserve the additives.

Biaxial Blends

Let’s create a biaxial blend that shows the effect of adding red iron oxide and chrome oxide to a glaze:

  1. Select “Biaxial” from the Blend dropdown.
  2. Select the number of rows you want in the blend. In this case, we will use 4 rows.
  3. Select the number of columns you want in the blend. In this case, we will use 3 columns.
  4. Select the “Top Left”, “Top Right”, “Bottom Left” and “Botom Right” recipes.
  5. Click the Preserve Additional checkbox to ensure the blends preserve the additives.
